WELSH AIR AMBULANCE

Amount donated: £10,000

The Welsh Air Ambulance provides vital emergency air cover to those with life-threatening illness or injuries. Its fleet of three helicopters, based in north, mid and south Wales, are on active duty 365 days a year to help the country’s citizens, particularly those living in remote areas without easy access to accident and emergency services.

It is widely acknowledged that a patient has a much greater chance of survival if they receive the appropriate level of care within the first hour, the golden hour, of sustaining an injury. The quick response times of the Welsh Air Ambulance helps to ensure treatment can be administered within the golden hour every time.

The £10,000 donated to the Welsh Air Ambulance by the Richard Burns Foundation in May 2007 provided enough funding to enable the service to respond to eight emergencies.
