Green completes the Great North Run for the RBF

23 September, 2010

Dan Green, a Richard Burns Foundation supporter, took part on last Sunday’s Great North Run event on Tyneside, UK, to raise funds for the RBF, which helps those suffering from brain cancer and other neurological disorders.

Green, who became interested in motorsport after watching Burns competing on rallies in the Kielder Forest in Northumberland, completed the gruelling half-marathon, which he was tackling for the first time, in a highly respectable time of 2hrs28m36s. So far he has raised £200 for the RBF.

The 23-year-old, who hails from Newcastle-upon-Type but now lives in Preston, said: “I chose to run for the RBF because I grew up near the Kielder Forest in Northumberland where a lot of rallies take place. My parents used to take me to see the rallies ever since I was very small. I used to watch Richard Burns flying through the stages and it made me want to become involved in motorsport. Richard was an absolute inspiration to me and I wanted to give something back by doing this run.”

Green, who became a rally technician after studying motorsport engineering at the University of Preston, plans to take part in more runs in the future, including the London Marathon one day.
